Choices
Robin Novak has made many choices in her life. She chose her career. She chose her friends, and she also chose to come out in college. Since that time, many women have walked in and out of Robin's life, but two had left indelible impressions. The first was a crush, and the second…almost destroyed her.
Mentally bruised and battered from an abusive relationship, in one short year, Robin has gone from being a successful author to someone struggling to breathe almost as much as she's struggling to write. With her confidence shattered, and her self-loathing at an all-time high, when an unexpected inheritance comes her way, Robin doesn't think twice. At the age of forty-four, Robin Novak packs up her life and her cats and moves to a place where she hopes to start fresh. But a change of location isn't the only thing Robin is looking for. After her last relationship, she knows this move will also drastically reduce the possibility of ever having another woman in her life.
Choices made create the paths on which we travel. Down some, friendships are born, and down others love is found, and during those journeys, lives change, truths are discovered, secrets are revealed, and high school crushes…can sometimes walk back into your life.
What Readers Are Saying
Thoroughly enjoyable book
This book was a very enjoyable read, with the main characters being so well-defined, exposing both weaknesses and strengths at different stages - which brought them to life for me. The storyline was superb in that it took twists and turns, involving in addition, the discrimination of gay people in general and the effects that had on the self evaluation of people who were in many cases, gifted and talented - but "different." I enjoyed the slow pace of the book whilst the two characters' feelings evolved from friendship into a deeper state of love. The supporting characters were funny and supportive - just what these two needed. Not forgetting the lives of those who had already passed through this realm and who had not been permitted to love, or truly be themselves. Instead they were forced to hide behind sham marriages and others who were pushed to vehemently deny the truth of who they really were. A great book and very highly recommended. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

A Lovely Ride
So, this book is long, but not one page, paragraph, or word too long! It is beautifully descriptive...so much so, that I felt transported to Mackinac! I could see it, smell the fresh, crisp air, and feel the chill winds. And that only covers part of the setting! The story of Robin and Judy is so beautifully interwoven with their environment, the other characters, and events throughout, that my heart ached when one felt pain, and I laughed aloud when a moment of joy occurred. Have I said yet that I loved this book? It is so well written, so evocative, I want to go there and have these people as my friends!

Robin and Judy's true love is like Anne Lister and Ann Walker
I found the book to be a very good read and it is truly worth the 5 stars. Robin and Judy remind me of the love of Anne Lister and Ann Walker. They were all struggling with their hearts due to their past but in the end love trumps everything. That feeling of finally coming to grips and coming out was joyous.

A journey to one's true love and soulmate
I loved this book. Lyn writes about choices that each one of the main characters make throughout their lives by looking at the past and how it affected them currently coming back to the present time. I got to know each of the characters as Lyn delves into each of their personalities. This book has mystery, some paranormal activity and romance. I was engaged by this book which brought forth different emotions. I found myself gasping, brought to tears and laughing. This is a journey to one's true love and soulmate and shows that age has no limits when love is involved.
This is my first book of Lyn Gardner's that I am reading and I will definitely be reading more of her books.

The most profound love stories between women that I have ever read
This book is the most profound piece of writing about the intense depth and passion that lesbians are capable of sharing that I have ever read. The story is riveting and insightful. The tension building between Robin and Judy as they come to terms with their feelings for each other is excruciating and kept me up all night. This story has actually strengthened my own relationship, and I believe it could do the same for yours. Lyn's gorgeous descriptions of Mackinac Island, the wisdom she so generously weaves through the story, plus the sheer imagery conjured of the history of women loving women astounded me. I am grateful to you Lyn.

Excellent as always!!
I have loved each book this author has put out, and this one did not disappoint. As someone who lives in Michigan and has been to Mackinac, along with the entire UP, I often felt like I was right there with Judy and Robin. Thank you for choosing my beautiful state for the location and back drop for this story. As always the story was excellent. It moved me to tears, and also had me laughing out loud. I look forward to your next book as I have with each one that came before. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good love story.
